Younger generations are not speaking Cajun French and elder Cajuns fear the unique language of their ancestors is dying out.

Surprisingly, despite bans on fishing off the coast and well-publicized closing of some of the state’s oyster beds, many businesses and local restaurants that specialize in seafood said they have yet to feel the effects of the oil spill.

The ride was a long, two-hour, bumpy tour through what was more foreign than I had expected. This simple bus ride created opportunities for images of beautiful scenery while using my passenger view as a frame.
